A group of concerned residents is urging the public to speak out at an upcoming meeting on a 1,200-unit development proposed for a green-space property in Vaughan.

Keep Vaughan Green is among those who don't want to see the disappearance of the green-space lands near The Country Club Golf Course in Woodbridge.

The land in question is currently zoned green space, but may also be susceptible to becoming the latest high-density development where at least 1,200 residential units could materialize.

KVG warned this parcel of land would be "destroyed" by this infill development.

The resident-led group is urging people to attend a public hearing on March 3 at 7 p.m. at Vaughan City Hall.

“The ONLY WAY we can get our mayor and council to listen is by SHOWING UP to demonstrate your opposition to this development,” KVG said on its website.

It also called on people to write letters to Vaughan’s mayor and councillors as well as the clerk’s office and planning department.
