Giuliano Todaro, Founder of "Giuliano's Journey" created in June 2011 while undergoing intense chemotherapy, recently hosted the 9th annual Giuliano's Journey signature fundraising event. Diagnosed at age 10, Giuliano is still on a mission to help other children afflicted with cancer and has become well known in the area for his efforts. The event took place at The Venetian Banquet and Hospitality Centre and featured dining with a five course meal, a sweet table generously donated by local Vaughan area bakeries and an open bar, raffles and auction items. The well attended gala evening raises funds specifically for promoting education and research to help the lives of those children living with Leukemia, the number one life threatening illness amongst children in Canada today. All monies raised go directly to SICK KIDS for the paediatric cancer unit, specifically, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Unit. Over the past several years Giuliano has been recognized for his work as the recipient of a number of honours and awards including: the Young Philanthropist Award, the Order of Vaughan for Philanthropy, the City of Vaughan Volunteer Recognition Award, Vaughan Civic Hero Award Ward 2, the Terry Fox Humanitarian Certificate and the Lieutenant Governor Award. Congratulations to a young man, and his non-profit foundation, for supporting Sick Kids with courage, humanitarianism, service and compassion.
