Municipalities across York Region are cancelling events and closing doors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here's how programs and facilities are impacted in Newmarket:
The following locations are closed indefinitely:
- Town Hall and the Robert N. Shelton Operations Centre;
- All Central York Fire Services administrative offices;
- All community centres, including the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, Magna Centre, Newmarket Seniors' Meeting Place, Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall, Newmarket Youth Centre and Sk8 Park, Hollingsworth Arena and Newmarket Public Library;
- All culture facilities, including the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre, Old Town Hall and the Elman W. Campbell Museum are also closed indefinitely;
- Third-party facility bookings are also cancelled.
