York Region Health reports number of coronavirus cases climbs to 12

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in York Region climbed to 12 as of March 16, according to local public health officials.
That number includes the addition of three new cases since March 15.
Two of the three cases involve women from Vaughan. One is in her 60s and the other is listed in her 70s.
The third case is a woman in her 40s from Markham.
In all three situations, the patients are in self-isolation. All 12 cases identified within the region are considered travel-related.
York Region Public Health says all individuals who have tested positive have been quickly assessed and isolated. York Region Public Health is actively following up on all close contacts of these individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Those who did not come into close, direct contact with confirmed cases are not considered at risk of becoming infected.
There is no evidence of community spread within York Region. The risk of acquiring COVID-19 in York Region remains low.
