York Region is experiencing a high volume of calls related to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The region is currently prioritizing health-care providers who are seeking or reporting information; residents who have travelled to Hubei province (China), Italy or Iran; residents who have recently travelled outside of Canada, including the U.S.; and those who are experiencing symptoms of the novel COVID-19 such as fever, coughing and difficulty breathing.
The region is also looking to prioritize calls from residents who have been in close contact with someone who has recently travelled abroad and are starting to experience symptoms of the novel COVID-19.
The region is recommending that people experiencing symptoms and have travelled internationally to isolate themselves from others as quickly as possible. The region is advising them to call their health-care provider or York Region Public Health at 1-877-464-9675, ext. 73588.
All other inquiries are directed to the York Region COVID-19 website. If there are still questions or concerns, York Region is asking that people call Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653 (1-866-512-6228 for the hearing impaired) or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000.
