Stouffville and Richmond Hill will see a reduction in GO train service starting Mar. 18.
The reduction is in response to the coronavirus outbreak “in support of provincial action and to protect Ontarians,” Metrolinx said in a media release.
Revised schedules for Stouffville and Richmond Hill became available Mar. 15 on the Go Transit website.
“Our key consideration is ensuring our services can continue and our employees and customers are safe,” Phil Verster, Metrolinx president and CEO, said in a statement. “We want to ensure there is a reliable and sustainable plan for service to continue over the weeks to come.”
Every route Metrolinx serves will continue to be serviced.
The statement said the service reductions are in line with reduction in ridership due to March break, school closures and a shift in organizations’ work from home policy.
Metrolinx is continuing to work with municipal transit authorities to ensure its services remain co-ordinated.
