If you’re in the mood for some sweet treats, head down to Vaughan on Feb. 8 for the Butter Tart Festival.

Candies, chocolates, cookies, biscotti, macaroons and, of course, butter tarts will be showcased by bakeries and crafters from all over Ontario.

There are activities for the little ones as well, including face painting, storytelling and a Valentine’s Day mini session.

More than 60 vendors from across the province are expected to showcase their best butter tarts. Purists say true butter tarts shouldn’t contain raisins or nuts. Some like runny fills and some like firm fillings. Some like thick pastry shells, while others like thin.

The top of the crop will be crowned in a competition for the best butter tarts hosted by a judging panel consisting of Patricia Curto of Vaughan Moms, Mike of Fresh Pressed Juice and MC Giuseppe Meleca.

Those in the mood for shopping are in luck as well. A local market place will allow you to buy everything you want for your home, yourself and even your pets.

The festival takes place at the Trio SportsPlex at 601 CityView Dr. in Vaughan from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
