Some of the 354 people displaced due to the Gosford Fire were allowed to return to their homes recently after a fatal five-alarm fire ripped through their apartment complex last month. Others however, remain in our City, spending their holidays at the Staybridge Suites Toronto -- Vaughan South located on Steeles Ave West. Being displaced because of a fire is extremely disruptive. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and the Vaughan Fire & Rescue Service teamed up to hand out toys to the children staying at Staybridge, in an effort to help brighten their holiday season.

Pride. Honour. Protect. These are the core values that guide Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS). Above and beyond responding to emergencies in a timely and professional matter, members of the VFRS are always present in our communities - volunteering their time for community initiatives such as this. Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service has earned an unprecedented 100 per cent satisfaction rating from the people of Vaughan and actions like this special event, are just one of the reasons why. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.
