Town of Newmarket offering camps, drop-in programs during teacher strikes

The camp offers games, arts and crafts, songs, team challenges and more for children aged four to 12

The Town of Newmarket will be offering day camps and drop-in programs for families impacted by the one-day York Catholic District School Board strike on Tuesday, Feb. 4 and the two-day strike on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Friday, Feb. 7 by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.

Kids Place Camp February

Elementary students aged four to 12 are welcome to join the Kids Place Camp February. At this camp, participants will get to enjoy games, arts and crafts, songs, team challenges and more.

Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 4; Thursday, Feb. 6 and Friday, Feb. 7
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Recreation Youth Centre and Sk8 Park (56 Charles St.)
Cost: $40 for residents and $70 for non-residents
Age requirement: 4 to 12 years old

Drop-in programs

Drop-in programs are suitable for those who are looking for an activity to do with their children during the strike days. All drop-in programs require adult accompaniment for those ages nine and under. Fees apply.
