Over 160 people came together on Jan. 31, 2020 to participate in York Region Food Network’s WinterFresh event. WinterFresh is York Region Food Network’s annual trivia event that raises funds for community food programs in York Region.

York Region Food Network is a charitable organization that connects and empowers people to access healthy food through education and advocacy. This work is guided by the fundamental belief in the right to food. Four million people across Canada are food insecure -- this is a very serious public health crisis. In York Region, 24,700 households experience food insecurity.

“Poverty and food insecurity take a massive toll on physical and mental health. York Region Food Network offers fresh food access programs, community gardens and cooking classes in communities across York Region. These programs are designed to create welcoming spaces for community members of all ages and backgrounds to come together, share skills and enjoy food together. York Region Food Network uses food as a tool to foster community belonging and health.
