King Township council approves 2.5% tax increase for 2020

It's official: property taxes in King are going up.
King Township council approved a 2.5-per cent tax increase for 2020 at its Jan. 27 meeting.
Residents will see an increase of $158 on the municipal portion of the property tax bill based on an average property assessment value of about $850,000.
The budget includes a new recreation centre for $37 million, road and related infrastructure projects for $21.3 million and a Nobleton sanitary sewer at $14.6 million.
This year’s operating and capital budgets total $34.8 million.
For every residential property tax dollar collected by the township, King gets 39.3 cents, York Region gets 38.7 cents and the province gets 22 cents for education.
