A one of a kind “walk-in” educational experience for all was recently celebrated at Vaughan City Hall in honouring the significance of Islamic Heritage Month. Taking place during the month of October, Islamic Heritage Month featured an opportunity to share many interesting displays and exhibits for the public to view and enjoy. The event commenced with a short opening ceremony and included information on the various facets of the Golden Islamic Era. Documentaries on Dr. Salam and other Muslim scientists were shown, there was a children’s stage show, Al Jazari’s water pump and an Idrisi world map of the 11th Century. There was even a live display by scribes, demonstrating beautiful calligraphy. Finally, for visitors there was also plenty of free food served as a “compliment” to the members of the public who visited.
