The City of Vaughan's 2019 Order of Vaughan Ceremony

A moving ceremony took place at Vaughan City Hall on December 9th as Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council invited the public to attend the 2019 Order of Vaughan honouring four outstanding citizens who have played a pivotal role in shaping the city. During the ceremony, these four individuals were bestowed with the City’s highest honour, the Order of Vaughan. It’s an important and meaningful award paying tribute to leaders who dedicate their time and talent, working tirelessly to enhance the quality of life of Vaughan citizens. Mayor Bevilaqua noted; “I am grateful for their exceptional dedication, devotion and commitment to our city.” This year’s recipients include: Max Eisen, liberated from Auschwitz on May 6th, 1945 who has devoted much of life to speaking about eliminating bigotry and racism, Eric Jolliffe, Chief of Police in York Region who emphasizes community outreach and relationship building, Dr. Vincent Maida, a pioneer in developing palliative care services, a member of the Hospice Vaughan Board and Medical Director of the new Hospice Vaughan and finally Caroline Riseboro, CEO and President of Plan International Canada and a passionate advocate of children’s rights and equity for girls.
