You have chance to leave a mark on the new Mount Albert Park.

The Mount Albert and District Lions Club launched a fundraising program to help raise money for the new skateboard and scooter zone, being developed as part of the town’s redevelopment project.

Residents have a chance to purchase a brick paving stone for a new pathway at the Mount Albert Community Centre Park. Stones are available for purchase for $125.

Individuals can pick up a purchase form at the own offices, the Mount Albert Foodland, Lloyd House Pub or via email directly with the Mount Albert Lions at vaughan.moult@sympatico.ca.

The stones will be integrated into the design within the sitting area adjacent to the skateboard and scooter park.

You can engrave up to three lines, with up to 20 characters per line. You can include numbers and letters only.

“Over their 50 years in the community, the Mount Albert Lions have continued to show their commitment to making the town a better place,” Mayor Virginia Hackson said. “They continuously support town events and programs.”

“The Mount Albert Lions are very pleased that we can help to create a space for local youth in our community. Our goal is to raise $75,000 and we look forward to the next stage of fundraising, which will include selling the brick paving stones, as well as our many other exciting community events,” Mount Albert Lions president Vaughan Moult said.

The park redevelopment has been supported and embraced by a number of community groups and stakeholders, including the Mount Albert Sports Day committee, and design support has been provided directly from students at Mount Albert public schools.

To date, the Lions have raised over $50,000, including $25,000 which was presented to council yesterday.

To learn more about future fundraising event residents can watch the Mount Albert and District Lions Club Facebook page.
