Here are the new appointments at York Region school boards

YRDSB has a new associate director while YCDSB has a new chair and vice-chair

1- YRDSB’s new associate director

York Region District School Board has appointed Dr. Steven Reid as Associate Director, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

The appointment follows a vacancy created as a result of the retirement of Associate Director Karen Friedman.

Dr. Reid currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Education Quality and Accessibility Office (EQAO), previously its Chief Assessment Officer.

He has extensive experience working at the Ontario Ministry of Education and in leadership roles at York Region District School Board, Bluewater District School Board and Toronto District School Board.

2- YCDSB’s new chair

At its annual Inaugural Board Meeting on Dec. 10, the York Catholic District School Board elected Maria Marchese, Trustee for Vaughan Area 3, as Chair of the Board.

Chair Marchese has served as a Trustee for five years and previously held the position of Vice Chair.

3- YCDSB’s new vice-chair

Dino Giuliani, Trustee for Vaughan Area 2, has also been elected as Vice-Chair

Vice Chair Giuliani is a long-standing member of the Board, having served as Trustee for 22 years. This is his third time serving as Vice Chair, having held the position in 2004 and 2005.
