Mayor of Newmarket, John Taylor

We are currently fully engaged as a council in the 2020 budget process.

Budgets are an incredibly important part of what council does at the Town of Newmarket -- perhaps the most important thing we do. This year and next year we will be doing more work than ever before, to review our long-term financial picture and to make sure that each year we take steps to ensure we have a sustainable financial future.

Some communities will do this better than others and I intend to ensure that we are a town and a council that leaves future generations with a healthy financial framework. The budget not only lays the groundwork for a sound financial year and future, but it also is the true prioritization of council’s goals and objectives. Council engages with the public each year in numerous ways, but we engage even more through the budget process to ensure that the budget priorities we set reflect the priorities of the residents of Newmarket.

I encourage all residents to email your members of council and share your priorities with us so that we can try to achieve the desires of our community while spending in a responsible and sustainable manner. I look forward to hearing from you!
