Starting Dec. 1, Richmond Hill becomes the second municipality after King, where Vaughan has provided its animal services since 2011.
The City of Vaughan announced on Nov. 26 that it “extended” its animal services to Richmond Hill following the latter’s “request.”
On its website, Vaughan said that “extending this cross-jurisdictional partnership” to Richmond Hill “establishes a much-needed service to its residents” while “enhancing” the program itself locally.
Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow said the partnership is a “great example” of how “two municipalities are coming together to find efficient and effective ways to deliver service to meet the needs of residents and provide an exceptional level of care for animals.”
Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua said, “We are happy to extend this offering outside our borders,” touting the city’s “well-established Animal Services team.”
“We are proud to support other municipalities with this important service offering.”
