Park Avenue between Lorne Avenue to Main Street has been under construction since June 2018 and is set to be complete in the next couple of weeks.
Just the facts:
- The town standardized the width of Park Avenue to seven metres, which involved moving natural gas lines and hydro poles;
- Construction work included: replacing old underground pipes with new water and wastewater pipes; new standard width sidewalks with tactile plates at each corner; construction of new water mains; new curbs and road surface; and new storm and sanitary services to the property line;
- Remaining work includes: line paintings, stop sign markings, bike lane markings, precast retaining walls, replacing sod and final site cleanup.
- All sidewalks, driveways and roadway have been reopened to the public;
- Construction is still underway along Millard Avenue, where the town is replacing old culvert, water main and sanitary pipes with new infrastructure along with installing a pedestrian island to accommodate future trails in the area.
- The project budget is about $2.92 million
