A special reception was held at the W Event Boutique on October 17th, 2019 in support of Safehaven and featuring guest of honour, our very own Mayor, Maurizio Bevilacqua, who was being honoured for his many contributions to the organization. Safehaven provides exceptional respite and residential care to children and young adults living with complex special needs across the GTA. Finding accessible and affordable programming for children with cognitive and developmental disabilities is challenging and it's organizations like Safehaven who provide outings, respite and special events for this special community. Thanks to The Spirit of Generosity, an initiative launched in 2011 by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, more than $70 million has been raised to support over 200 non-profit and community organizations like Safehaven, who provide these much needed essential services to our community. The evening reception was an opportunity to say thank you to the Mayor for his significant contributions. Since 2011, Mayor Bevilacqua has donated $50,000 to this wonderful organization, supporting their work in helping “kids feel exceptional.” On hand to show their appreciation and celebrate with the Mayor were Regional Councillor Mario Ferri, MPP Michael Tibollo, Regional Councillor Linda Jackson and the CEO of Safehaven, Susan Bisaillon. This spirit of generosity demonstrates the lasting impact of charitable giving in our community and inspires others to do their part to help make a better tomorrow for everyone.
