Gardiner Expressway to close for repairs Thanksgiving weekend

The Gardiner Expressway will be closed Thanksgiving weekend starting Friday at midnight for repair work.

The expressway will close between Highway 427 and Queen Elizabeth Way and the Don Valley Parkway and Carlaw Avenue at 12 a.m. Saturday and will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

Crews will be working on the stretch between Jarvis and Cherry streets, where the city says the road is reaching “the end of its service life,” making it a top priority with winter approaching.

Construction on the Gardiner is expected to continue, with this round of repairs part of a larger plan to revitalize the entire expressway.
