Heads up if you travel in the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan.
Starting Oct. 28, Huntington Road, from McGillivray Road to Major Mackenzie, will be permanently closed.
Just the Facts:
- The road will be off-limits to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to make way for the new Highway 427 interchange.
- It will be one of three new interchanges being built as part of the $616 million Highway 427 expansion project. Additional interchanges are being added at Langstaff Road and Rutherford Road.
- The 427 project is extending the highway 6.6 kilometres, from Highway 7 to Major Mackenzie Drive, and widening the existing highway to eight lanes between Finch Avenue and Highway 7.
- There are also temporary lane restrictions, from Oct. 19 to Nov. 2, along Major Mackenzie between Highway 50 and Huntington Road (reduced to one lane alternating between eastbound and westbound directions) and Huntington Road between Major Mackenzie and McGillivray Road (with traffic flaggers controlling traffic north and southbound) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the scheduled dates.
