Ministers Sarkaria and Lecce Launch Small Business Week in King City

Today, Prabmeet Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction was joined by Education Minister and King--Vaughan MPP, Stephen Lecce, to launch the start of Small Business Week across Ontario.
Small Business Week is an annual recognition of the vital role these job-creators play in Ontario. There are approximately 418,000 small businesses in Ontario, representing nearly 98 per cent of all businesses in the province.
"There's nothing small about small business. It's about big hope, big dreams, and big opportunities," said Associate Minister Sarkaria. "Ontario's small businesses create jobs for hardworking Ontarians and help to support and sustain our growing economy. That's why we're standing with them during Small Business Week, and all throughout the year, by easing their regulatory burden, cutting their costs, and saving them money so they can reinvest, grow their operations, and put more families to work."
"Small business is the backbone of our economy -- that's true here in King Township, Vaughan and in every community across the province," said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. "We will never waiver from our support for Canadian job creators and workers, as we work to restore the opportunity society and the values it represents -- hard work, generosity, and discipline -- that my immigrant family chose over half a century ago."
The Government is committed to making Ontario work smarter for business by cutting red tape and modernizing rules to improve the province's investment climate, foster growth among business, and restore Ontario's competitive advantage. All together, in the past 16 months, more than 100 actions have been taken to modernize and streamline regulations, end overlap with the federal government and municipalities, update or revoke old or out-of-date requirements, and simplify complicated rules.
