While there has been much talk about the impending redevelopment of The Promenade Mall, now we can see concrete signs of what's to come. One of those signs is at the site of the old Sears at The Promenade which now informs the public "Coming Here Soon: Promenade Park Towers." Time for a little update.

Action: The owner (Promenade Limited Partnership, the owner of The Promenade Mall) wants to redevelop the former Sears Canada retail space, located at the southwest part of the shopping centre.

Development: This would include two residential apartment buildings (30- and 35-storeys) connected by a seven-storey podium. These buildings will contain 729 residential units. The development also extends around the east part of the shopping centre with a 23-storey, mixed-use building. This consists of an 11-storey hotel (with 170 suites), 10 storeys of office space and an additional two storeys of retail space.

New street: The development includes a new street (High Street) which is a wide landscaped and pedestrian oriented retail boulevard. This street will provide a connection from Centre Street to the shopping centre land and Clark Avenue West (via Promenade Circle), for the residential, office, hotel and retail development and the existing Promenade Shopping Centre. Pedestrian connections on the land will connect to High Street, Promenade Circle, the existing bus terminal, stores and Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park. Car access to the Promenade area is provided from Bathurst Street and Clark Avenue.
