Following the Ontario government's decision on June 4 to resume the assessment study of the GTA West highway, the Ministry of Transportation is inviting residents living Woodbridge, Georgetown and Caledon to pitch in their input.

“Comments and input regarding the study are encouraged and will be collected to assist the GTA West Project Team,” the Ministry said in its Notice of Public Information Centre.

“This material will be maintained on file for use during the project and may be included in project documentation to meet the requirements of the Ontario EA Act.”

The information collected, meanwhile, will be used in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act.

“With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.”

In early 2018, the Liberal led-led government cancelled the proposed 413 or GTA West Highway.

The highway might meander through some parts of the environmentally-protected Greenbelt, cutting through King, Vaughan, Caledon and Brampton.

Proponents of the highway say costs of congestion to commuters and the economy in the GTA is expected to exceed $15 billion annually by 2031.
