Through a collaboration between the Greenbelt Foundation and Park People, the Greenbelt River Valley Connector program has provided a grant of up to $25,000 to support the Greenbelt Urban River Valley Open House in Vaughan Sept. 21.

The event at Doctors McLean District Park celebrated nature and promoted the importance of Humber urban river valleys and Vaughan’s local trail network with child-friendly activities, a guided hike along the Humber River and a group-planting of a pollinator garden.

Programs such as this protect urban river valleys, and are the first step to ensuring these systems remain healthy for generations to come.
