Last month, communities in Vaughan and around the world recognized India’s 73rd Independence Day, which commemorates India’s birth as a sovereign and democratic nation. "Vaughan’s reach into global communities knows no boundaries. Nearly half of our population was born abroad, and more than 105 different languages are spoken within our borders. Diversity is truly one of our greatest strengths," says Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “I am proud and grateful to live in a city where we embrace our diversity and celebrate community every day. I extend my warmest wishes to everyone commemorating India’s Independence Day.”
