If you have driven in the area of Yonge Street and Highway 7, you have likely noticed there is no longer an Indigo bookstore there. That location closed, and a new one opened at Richmond Hill’s Hillcrest Mall. So, what will take its place?

What: A zoning-bylaw amendment application has been made that could vastly change how the land is used. A proposed zoning-bylaw amendment application would add an animal hospital and veterinarian.

Location: 8705 Yonge St.

The land is at the northeast corner of Yonge Street and Highway 7, south of High-Tech Road. It used to house an Indigo bookstore. There are the Canadian National Railway corridor and high-density residential uses to the east, and the Highway 7 on-off ramp and public utility uses to the south.

Background: The bylaw application was received and deemed complete by the city on June 3, 2019.

Owner: Yonge Bayview Holdings Inc.

The proposal does not contemplate exterior changes to the existing building and will use the same parking as previously allocated to the former tenant.
