The Town of Georgina is repaving high-traffic roads in the Keswick area.
Just the facts:
- Location: The Queensway from just north of Morton Avenue to Church Street, and Simcoe Avenue from Metro Road to The Queensway.
- Construction started mid-August and is expected to continue into fall 2019.
- Construction crews are working to demolish an old box culvert and install a new structure.
- The project includes: replacing broken curbs and sidewalks; replacing interlocking stonework with reinforced coloured concrete; repaving The Queensway and Simcoe Avenue; widening Cryderman Sideroad between Baldwin Road and Lasher Lane; increasing the asphalt thickness on The Queensway at Simcoe Avenue and Henry Street intersections; building a new sidewalk on the east side from Simcoe Avenue to the Keswick Veterinary Clinic; and installing accessible sidewalk crossings.
- The budget is $3.1 million, which includes: repaving The Queensway and Simcoe Avenue; widening Cryderman Sideroad between Baldwin Road and Lasher Lane; and surface treatment of Miles and Stoney Batter roads.
- Removed asphalt from the project will be milled and used as base material on rural roads.
