Get ready to avoid Tenth Line in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The town announced the road is set to be closed from Mantle to 19th Avenue for close to three months. The road is scheduled to be closed from Sept. 16 to Dec. 9.

The project is estimated to cost $3.7 million.

A staff report said the closure of the road will allow the project to be completed expeditiously. The priority is to have the Tenth Line water main and sewer extensions completed so that service can be provided to the future subdivision to the east.

Staff investigated the possibility of keeping the road partially open during construction but concluded it would not only extend the duration of the project, but also repeat the experience of the Ninth Line roundabout construction.

The cost of the Ninth Line roundabout, a York Region project, increased from the originally estimated $483,000 to $920,000, said the town.
