Richmond Hill’s Sports Hall of Fame is in for a growth spurt.

Blaine Angus, Bill Armstrong, Josh Binstock, Tommy Griffiths and Ed Santi were named to the Class of 2019 this week.

They will be inducted Oct. 24 during an induction ceremony at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.

Blaine Angus spent 15 years starting in 1992 as a referee at the professional levels of hockey, including 516 National Hockey League regular season games and two playoffs.

He remains active as a coach for young officials in Richmond Hill and across Ontario.

The St. Louis Blues’ Stanley Cup championship marked an addition for Bill Armstrong’s trophy room.

An assistant general manager and director of amateur scouting for the National Hockey League team, Armstrong won a Memorial Cup in 1990 with the Oshawa Generals and in 1999 was an assistant coach with the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup-winning Providence Bruins.

The Bayview Secondary School graduate was a Philadelphia Flyers’ draft pick and played nine seasons in the International Hockey League and AHL.

Josh Binstock is one of the most decorated beach volleyball players in Canada.

A two-time Olympian (2012 London and 2016 Rio), the graduate of Richmond Hill High School won 11 Continental Tour medals, eight World Tour medals and placed ninth at the 2015 world championships.

Tommy Griffiths went from Alexander Mackenzie High School Mustangs all the way to the Canadian Football League.

An offensive lineman, Griffiths played the 2015 season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers following a four-year career at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Ed Santi service as a volunteer for minor hockey in Richmond Hill stretches across four decades.

He was a member of the Richmond Hill Hockey Association from 1984 to 2005 serving in capacities ranging from house league convenor to president. He was also president of the triple-A Coyotes program for a decade starting in 2007.

Established in 1991, the hall of fame currently features exhibits and photos of the 57 current inductees.
