York police are investigating an early morning shooting outside a Thornhill community centre.

It was on July 31 at about 7 a.m. when a man wearing black clothing fired his firearm several times at a dark vehicle before it began to drive away from the Garnet Williams Community Centre, at 501 Clarke Ave. W., Thornhill.

When police officers arrived, they found no witnesses to greet them about the incident, but upon further investigation discovered shell casings at the site of the incident.

Witnesses said two dark vehicles were involved in the incident, both of which left the scene.

Investigators are currently attempting to retrieve surveillance video and are looking for witnesses.

The victim, who was left unarmed, was eventually located and an investigation into a suspect is ongoing.
