There is some great news for Vaughan and York Region: Time Magazine has named Canada’s Wonderland among the 100 great places to visit for its 2019 list.

Time magazine made a special mention to Canada’s Wonderland for its record-breaking Yukon Striker for all the thrill seekers out there.

After all, the Yukon Striker has claimed the title as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster -- featuring a 90-degree drop.

Not only that, this coaster also plunges into an underwater tunnel and does a 360-degree loop and has cars that leave riders hanging in the open air.

The recognition came in less than three months since it opened to the public, on May 3 this year.

“We are one of only two Canadian destinations selected and are included in the top places ‘To Visit’ category,” Grace Peacock, Canada’s Wonderland’s director of communications, said.

The second place was Calgary's $245-million Central Library, which opened late last year 2018. It was designed by Norwegian architecture firm Snohetta.
