East Gwillimbury hires new Economic Development Manager

The town announced they have hired Margo Bégin for the new position.

The Town of East Gwillimbury has hired a new Manager of Economic Development. The town announced they have hired Margo Bégin for the position. Bégin brings more than 20 years of strategic economic development experience, with a focus on attracting investment, retaining and expanding business, and developing entrepreneurship and the overall workforce.

“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Bégin to the position of Manager, Economic Development. The town’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan outlines our commitment and focus on economic development and Ms. Bégin’s professional background and expertise will support the Plan and will also have a positive impact on our growing community and to East Gwillimbury’s Economic Development portfolio,” Mayor Virginia Hackson said.

Bégin comes to East Gwillimbury from the private sector where she worked in a number of senior roles, including senior consultant, vice president of customer and client experience, and executive director. Within these roles, Bégin lead a wide range of economic development initiatives and strategies, including foreign direct investment and investment attraction, implementation of process enhancement, employee training, program development and financial management.

In addition to working over 20 years in senior economic development roles, Bégin has extensive experience in project management. Her experience as a project manager included guiding organizations and groups through projects, while collaborating with key stakeholder groups to provide sustainable economic growth.
