You’ll want to make note of this closure if you plan on travelling on a section of this busy route in Vaughan this weekend.

Major Mackenzie Drive will be closed between Highway 27 and St. Padre Pio Gardens/Sonoma Heights Park from July 5 at 9 p.m. to July 8 at 5 a.m.

Construction crews will be raising Major Mackenzie and connecting it to Highway 27.

The work is part of a larger project of making improvements and widening Major Mackenzie to six lanes from Highway 50 to Highway 400.

Realigning the road and making additional improvements will accommodate growth, improve traffic flow, provide public transit connections and create more travel options, according to the Region of York.

You can get updates on the project by emailing roads.ea@york.ca with “Send me Major Mackenzie Drive enews.”
