Just in case you missed it -- The North Thornhill District Park walkway is officially open.

This park is at 300 Pleasant Ridge Ave. in the Dufferin Street and Autumn Hill Boulevard area of Vaughan.

The new walkway provides easier access between the local park and community centre.

The Ward 4 community, including Ward 4 Coun. Sandra Yeung Racco, said easier access was needed between the local park and community centre. So, the city worked with external stakeholders, including the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), to develop and build the walkway on YRDSB’s Stephen Lewis Secondary School property.

The walkway connects two previously separated parcels of land. The walkway includes a new asphalt pathway that is 722 feet, pedestrian lighting, regrading, Armour Stone walls/curbs, site furnishings, a handrail and tree plantings.

The park connects to the North Thornhill Community Centre, a recreation facility with a swimming pool, fitness centre and programs.

The walkway opened in May.

The North Thornhill District Park features splash pads, water-play zones and green space for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
