Frank Smith, who came second for the 70 plus age category for a five-kilometre run, has joyously accepted York Region Media’s request to take a photo of him looking all happy at the Mount Albert Sports Day & Spring Fair in East Gwillimbury on Saturday.

The three-day spring fair started May 30 amid forecasts for rain. But it didn’t stop people from enjoying slithers of sun.

Saturday morning a group of men and women were playing baseball. On the other side of the fair, parents and their children were lining up to go on rides.

Councillor Cathy Morton and Tara Wagg are the two co-chairs of the Spring Fair. Morton said the turnout was good despite the forecasts.
It’s the fair’s 94th year.
