The town is in the process of studying short-term rental accommodations within Georgina.

Public consultation is part of the research process.

Georgina is working on a long-term model to regulate short-term rental accommodations.

The study would be used to as consideration for an official plan amendment and amendments to the Keswick, Sutton and Pefferlaw secondary plans.

The town does not now regulate short-term rentals found through Airbnb, VRBO or other online platforms.

Residents have raised a number of concerns from noise, safety, parking, taxation and municipal service overload.

There are a number of benefits of short-term rentals, including increased tourism and visitors to the area.

As of 2018, there were more than 100 short-term rentals in Georgina.
