Construction began in late summer 2017. Now close to its official opening, this expanded park is 10.4 acres.
JUST THE FACTS
What: Agostino Park’s two-hectare (five-acre) expansion includes a senior soccer field, a parking lot and a new walkway connection to the playground. In total, the expanded park is 4.2 hectares (10.4 acres) and also includes a basketball court and mini soccer field.
Where: 535 Confederation Pkwy. Located in Ward 4, in the Carrville community.
Background: The park-expansion project included acquiring land from the York Catholic District School Board. A public open house was held in the summer of 2014 to get feedback from the community, and construction began in late summer 2017.
Official opening: June 25, 7 p.m. Residents are invited to officially open the park with the mayor and council.
(The event will happen rain or shine and will feature free ice cream and face-painting for kids.)
