What better way to spend a Sunday morning than pedalling and sweating while enjoying the beautiful scenery of York Region?

Hundreds of cyclists geared up and hit the road in the morning of June 2 from Copper Creek Golf Club at the 5th Ride for Health in support of Mackenzie Health. The funds raised will help enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and building the future Mackenzie Vaughan hospital, part of Mackenzie Health Foundation’s $250-million Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign -- the largest fundraising drive led by a community hospital in Canada.

Participants from around GTA took part in the ride of different distances, from 25 kilometres to 100 kilometres across the region.

“I’m proud of the incredible and inspiring leadership from our cyclists, volunteers, planners and participants who’ve helped make this Ride for Health one of our most exciting and memorable years yet,” said Ingrid Perry, president and CEO of Mackenzie Health Foundation.

The annual event, presented by CIBC, raised a record-breaking $350,000 this year. Since the event's inception in 2015, it has raised a total $1 million.

“Ride for Health is one of my favourite community events,” said the event's co-chair Domenic Gurreri. “I feel privileged to be part of the wonderful team raising funds for a very special project in our community.”

The 2020 Ride for Health is set for June 7, 2020.
