UPDATE: Watermain break in Aurora slows traffic on Yonge Street

One lane shut down between Henderson Drive and Edward Street

The northbound lane on Yonge Street in Aurora reopened shortly after 7 a.m. June 9 f, according to the Region of York's twitter account.

The roadway from Allaura Boulevard to Edward Street was closed since a watermain broke Saturday morning just before 7 a.m.

A broken water main has caused a traffic slowdown on Yonge Street in Aurora.

The break occurred early morning June 8 between Henderson Drive and Edward Street, resulting in a one-lane closure on the east side of Yonge Street in the area.

According to a Region of York spokesperson, the region became aware of the issue shortly before 7 a.m.

The break has caused an impact on the water service to a McDonald’s restaurant in the area.

It is unknown how long the repair will take although the spokesperson said 12 to 24 hours is possible.
