It seems Toronto Raptors fans in York Region are focused on wins over run-ins with fellow fans and the law.

York Regional Police reported no incidents of unruly fan behaviour spilling from viewing parties across the region following the team’s Game 4 victory June 8 against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.

“We are aware of the incidents which have occurred in Toronto,” said Duty Inspector Andrew Bell, referencing incidents in downtown Toronto following the games in the series. “Here it seems to be more of a family-friendly atmosphere.

“People are celebrating the Raptors’ success, but it tends to be more controlled.”

Several municipalities have been providing venues at which residents can gather to watch the National Basketball Association championship series.

In Vaughan, for instance, estimates of up to 2,000 people have been taking in the games together in a party atmosphere.

Game 5 in the series is Monday night in Toronto with the Raptors having a chance to win the series.
