The Regional Municipality of York is scheduling a road closure to replace a culvert on Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan.

JUST THE FACTS

Where: Major Mackenzie Drive West from McNaughton Road/Avro Road to 250 metres east of McNaughton Road/Avro Road is scheduled to be closed.

When: From June 17 to Aug. 30, 2019.

What: The road closure is for culvert replacement. The culvert is a large steel pipe tunnel under the road that transports water from the West Don River. A full closure of the road is required to ensure that the work is completed as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible. Access to all properties will be maintained during this closure.

Other info: While the culvert is being replaced, a pedestrian and cycling-friendly underpass will also be built next to the new culvert -- which will allow for future travel underneath the roadway, support the City’s trail system network and encourage active transportation in the community. In addition, a new water main service connection will be installed to support the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.

Information meeting: The public is invited to attend an Information Centre to learn more about the project, meet the project team and ask questions.

Date: Wednesday, May 29, 2019

Time: Visit any time between 4 and 8 p.m.

Location: Vaughan City Hall, Multi-Purpose Room, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. W., Vaughan.
