Land amendments dominate Vaughan council's June 4 meeting

With Vaughan growing and developing, council’s meeting on June 4 is laden with discussion to “re-designate” and amend lands to accommodate residential dwellings.

In addition, Bill 108 and Bill 107 will be discussed. Bill 108, More Homes, More Choice Act, passed first reading in the legislature on May 2 and is expected to change how municipalities can impose development charges.

Bill 107 would ease restrictions on driving off-road vehicles on municipal roads.

Here are some of the other items on the agenda:

1. East Kleinburg Developments Inc.

1045501 Ontario Ltd., Official Plan Amendment File O.17.008

Property: The subject Lands are located in the vicinity of Hwy 27 and Kirby Road.

Application: To re-designate the western 40.76 ha portion of land from "Private Open Space," "Natural Areas" and "Agricultural" to "Low-Rise Residential" and "Low-Rise Mixed-Use" with a "Neighbourhood Park" and "School" overlay and to implement a development concept for about 480 units inclusive of one low-rise mixed-use block.

2. Official Plan Amendment File OP.17.007 Kirby 27 Developments Ltd.

Property: The subject lands are located in the vicinity of Hwy 27 and Kirby Road.

Application: To re-designate the western 17.24 ha portion of land from "Agricultural" to "Low-Rise Residential" with a "Park" overlay and to implement a development concept for about 280 residential units.

3. Highview Building Corp Inc. Official Plan Amendment File OP. 16.009 Zoning Bylaw Amendment File Z.16.036

Property: The subject lands are located in the vicinity of Nashville Road and Highway 27.
Application: The applicant has submitted an application for the subject lands to permit a development consisting of 27 residential units consisting four townhouse dwellings, two semi-detached dwellings, and 19 detached dwellings and the retention of two heritage buildings.

4. Nashville Developments (North) Inc. Zoning Bylaw Amendment File Z.18.037

Property: The subject lands are located in the vicinity of Huntington Road and East's Corners Boulevard.

Application: To seek approval to rezone the subject lands from "OS1 Open Space Conservation Zone" to RD4(H) "Residential Detached Zone Four" subject to Exception 9(1376) with the addition of holding symbol "(H)" and "OS1 "Open Space Conservation Zone" to facilitate five lots for detached dwelling units and maintain valley/open space lands
