WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?: Former armoury being revived in Aurora
Armoury renovation work ongoing, opening date remains unknown

As part of Aurora’s downtown revitalization plan, the former armoury used by the Queen’s York Rangers is being renovated.
Just the facts:
- Location: 89 Mosley St., Aurora;
- Reconstruction on the armoury started in September 2018 and is expected to be complete by July 2019. The opening date is yet to be determined;
- Current work includes: replacing the roof, cladding the exterior, indoor plumbing and electrical;
- The former military drill shed is being converted into to culinary training facility and community space that will be home of the new Canadian Food and Wine Institute in partnership with Niagara College;
- The renovated building will include: a 32-seat classroom/meeting space with limited office space, 250-person event reception/multi-purpose space, a 12-seat teaching kitchen and demonstration area, and restrooms that will be accessible from both inside and outside the building;
- As part of the agreement with Niagara College, residents will have access to a variety of how-to cooking courses for seniors, students and families taught by industry experts; and
- The budget for the armoury project is about $4.8 million.
