King Township announced the appointment of Daniel Kostopoulos as the new chief administrative officer, effective April 1.

Kostopoulos, a professional engineer, is replacing the long-serving CAO Susan Plamondon, who retired at the end of March.

Having more than 28 years of experience in the municipal sector, the new CAO spent much of his career with York Region where he served in transportation and environmental services.

Most recently, Kostopoulos was city manager at the City of Vaughan, yorkregion.com reported.

“I am very much looking forward to working with the mayor, members of council, staff and the community to advance council’s priorities, deliver public services and oversee the business obligations of King Township,” said Kostopoulos.

“Daniel’s obvious skills and experience -- combined with his track record and interest in citizen satisfaction and employee engagement -- make him an ideal candidate to be King’s next chief administrative officer,” Mayor Steve Pellegrini said.

Pellegrini also expressed gratitude toward Plamondon’s dedicated service to King for the past eight years.

The mayor announced Plamondon’s retirement at the beginning of a council meeting on March 18 where he presented her flowers and a gift painting.

Plamondon, who has served in the municipal sector for more than three decades, said she would like to spend more time with her grandchildren after retirement.
