WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?: New Bloomington GO station rising in Richmond Hill

Construction continues to 2020 on new train, bus station

As part of the plans to increase service along the Richmond Hill GO line, GO Transit is building a new station in the northern part of Richmond Hill.

Just the Facts:

• The new station is located just west of Highway 404 on the southside of Bloomington Road;

• Construction started in 2017 and the station is scheduled to be complete and open in 2020;

• When the station was announced in 2017, the price tag was about $82.4 million;

• Once open, there will be six morning and six afternoon trips to and from the Bloomington GO Station;

• When complete, the station will include: Three-level parking garage with a car counting system to locate empty spaces; 760 parking spaces and 238 surface parking spaces; kiss and ride area; York Region Transit bus bays and local transit connections; bike shelters, scooter parking and bike lanes with direct access to the platform; electric vehicle parking and charging stations; and covered, heated 12-car platform;

• There are plans to add a future carpool lot
