In partnership with CIBC, the City of Vaughan hosted Vaughan's 6th Annual International Women's Day Celebration. Ratified by the UN in 1975, International Women's Day has grown to become a global day of recognition and acknowledgement. Vaughan City Hall played host to many from around the community that morning who were welcomed to enjoy the celebrations. Vaughan Fire and Rescue Chief Deryn Rizzi was the Master of Ceremonies for this special event. After opening speeches, guests were treated to a wonderful performance by singer and songwriter DIA. Throughout the morning, guests heard from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Integrity Commissioner Suzanne Craig, Julie Flesch- Entrepreneurship Co-ordinator Economic and Cultural Development, Cmdr. Kelly Williamson- Director of Public Affairs, the Royal Canadian Navy, Nadine Williams- poet, author, entrepreneur and Carolyn Foster, CFP- Director of Sales Advice and Performance Coach- National Sales and Services CIBC. To conclude their morning together, guests enjoyed refreshments and were welcome to visit displays in the Atrium. The organizers of Vaughan International Women's Day 2019 would like to thank the Peacock Artists Group from the Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women for the beautiful handcrafted gifts and to the staff of ehcw.
