The Vaughan Professional Firefighters Association handed Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua a cheque worth $25,000 on March 26 to boost Mackenzie Health Foundation's fundraising efforts for the city's future hospital.
The funds raised were from various Vaughan Professional Firefighters Association initiatives, community outreach, and the sale of their popular 2019 firefighter calendar. It is part of an overall commitment of $100,000.
“With a 100 per cent satisfaction rating from our residents, our firefighters are professional, brave, and compassionate,” said the mayor. He added, “We are grateful for their dedication to safeguarding the health and well-being of our city and appreciate their support of this worthy initiative, Vaughan’s future hospital.”
The Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, currently under construction at Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, is expected to be completed in late 2020.
