Beginning April 8, Markham residents will be able to take five midday trips in each direction along the Stouffville line from Centennial, Markham and Mount Joy GO stations Monday to Friday.

The provincial government made the announcement of the enhanced transit service on Wednesday morning.

"Our government is committed to improving the transit experience to make commutes shorter and relieve congestion so that Ontarians can spend more time doing what matters--being with their family, friends or spending time at work," said Jeff Yurek, Minister of Transportation.

“Our government is offering more transit choices because the experience of real people is front of mind of our choices. We’re making life easier for residents of Markham,” said Yurek.

“Building a quality transit system signals that the GTHA is open for business and open for jobs. Our province deserves a world-class transportation system that gets both the people and the economy moving,” he said.
