The historic Thornhill home at 33 Centre St. is just east of Elizabeth Street and west of Yonge Street.

An application asks for an addition to the house. See more below.

JUST THE FACTS

Application: The application asks for a two-storey rear addition to the 2.5-storey home to allow office and retail uses as well as adding 19 parking spaces. The application is under review by the City of Vaughan.

Architectural value: Vaughan maintains a listing of buildings of architectural and historic value. This home at 33 Centre St. is included in the Canadian Inventory of Historic Buildings.

Context: There are two other historic homes close-by on Centre Street east of this home also being reviewed by Vaughan because of proposed changes.

Vaughan also received an application to allow rezoning and a professional office in the historic home next door to this one at 39 Centre St. Also close by is the
Robert Shuter house, one of Thornhill Village's oldest houses at 19 Centre St. An application asks that the house be rezoned to allow one- and two-storey additions to the rear of the building so it may be used for professional offices.
